I can't tell you enough how big a Jamie Oliver fan I am. Today, I'm supporting his Food Revolution Day 2013! Stemmed from his cookbook Jamie's Ministry of Food, it's a movement he started that calls out to foodies all over the world to share their knowledge on food and cooking.
Since I love steak, I'm sharing with you my recipe for my Home-Cooked Grilled Aussie Striploin Steak.
I'm not Mexican (my name sounds hispanic though), but here's to my Mexican readers (if any) and Coursera classmates!
One
thing I love about Cinco De Mayo is that food sites and blogs come up with special features with all these Mexican dishes that are muy delicioso! I love Mexican food and I dream about going to Mexico, meet Speedy Gonzales and have an authentic Mexican feast!
While that is not yet happening, I'm sharing with you my recipe of a world famous Mexican dish that is also one of my favorites to make and eat — tacos!
You saw the pictures of our family during my sister's birthday celebration at Café Mary Grace. Now it's time to talk about the food!
If you're eating out, but avoiding rice dishes, one of your best options is Café Mary Grace. They have a good selection of sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes.
Mushroom Pâté
The Mushroom Pâté of Café Mary Grace will always be my favorite on their menu. It may take time for me to decide on my main dish, but I'd order a plate of the mushroom pâté right away. The earthy flavor of perfectly pairs with the lightly toasted slices of baguette.
Mary Grace Caesar Salad
We also ordered Mary Grace Caesar Salad because our family loves having salad. My father always makes sure that there is at least one vegetable dish at the table. I don't think you can ever go wrong with caesar salad. Mary Grace adds more texture and flavor to the traditional caesar salad by tossing in slices of chicken fillet.
Props to my family for making me eat caesar salad! It was actually my
sister, Sheryl (How apt that I'm brining this up!) who made me eat it the first time. I can still remember the first caesar salad I ate was from California Pizza Kitchen. How can I forget? It's a food milestone for me!
Leek and Saffron Cream with Fillet of Cream Dory
I've already tried Café Mary Grace's Chorizo and Green Olive Pasta and Spanish Sardines and Olives Pasta (which inspired me to make own version - Fusilli Sardines Pasta with Sun-dried Tomatoes). Both pasta dishes are superb! I wanted to discover a new dish that I can recommend. I went for Leek and Saffron Cream with Fillet of Cream Dory. I rarely try fish and pasta combination, but I can say it was really good. The fish was flaky, but still moist and the hint of lemon gives it an additional zest.
I had a cup of brewed coffee after. Too bad I couldn't take in not even a piece of their brownies. I've tried them before though and I tell you, a piece is not enough!
It's been a tradition to cook for family every Christmas, but since we
stayed in a hotel last year, I just prepared something light. Salad was
my best
bet. Of course I
wanted to prepare something I can consume so that means it has to be
one without the usual creamy and sour salad dressing. (Except for caesar
salad, but that would've been boring.) Hence, Antipasto Salad!
I got the recipe from AllRecipes.com. You can find the recipe here. I just substituted the diced Asiago cheese with Romano cheese.
Its dressing is just a mixture of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and herbs.
The Mom & Tina's branch along Sgt. Esguerra Avenue in Quezon City started its operations last October 22. Located in front of ABS-CBN (beside Melo's), it brings new options to food lovers who frequent Timog and Tomas Morato areas. Like its other branches (in Makati and along Katipunan Avenue), it serves homestyle cooked food, cakes and pastries.
Mom & Tina's Bakery Café is also known for its homey ambiance. The furniture and fixtures suit a country kitchen. The whole place exudes an atmosphere kept by a doting homemaker - a Bree Van de Kamp. It's a place where friends can catch up, families can spend quality time and couples can enjoy romantic dates.
